The Irish remain undefeated. #6-ranked Notre Dame steamrolled into Virginia and came out with a 45-23 win over #24 Virginia Tech.
Up 17-16 at halftime, Notre Dame looked to be in for a tight game. That was until the second half came around. The Irish scored 28 unanswered points, claiming a big 38-16 lead. Virginia Tech finally ended the drought, too little, too late. Notre Dame would win easily on the road 45-23.
QB Ian Book had another nice game. Book completed 25/35 passes for 271 yards and 2 touchdowns. WR Miles Boykin caught both TD’s, finishing with 8 receptions for 117 yards. RB Dexter Williams made his presence known Saturday night. Williams rushed 17 times for a whopping 178 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Notre Dame’s defense was led by Julian Love with 7 tackles, a fumble recovery return for a touchdown, and an interception. Te’von Coney also had a nice performance with 9 tackles, including 1.5 for loss.
Kicker Justin Yoon broke the all-time Notre Dame scoring record with 9 points on Saturday. Yoon now has 322 points and counting.
