RECAP — Cubs 3, Reds 2

All thanks to Ian Happ, the Cubs beat Cincinnati on Friday night 3-2.

Standout Performances

Ian Happ: 1 for 3, HR, 1 R, 3 RBI
Ben Zobrist: 3 for 4

Cole Hamels: 6.2 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 Ks

How it Happened

Cole Hamels was smooth sailing through 3.0 innings. Hamels unfortunately allowed back-to-back homers in the 4th, as the Cubs trailed 2-0. He was solid the rest of the way, earning a quality start. Ian Happ got Hamels off the hook in the 7th, with a huge at-bat. Happ crushed a 3-run homer to left that put the Cubs up 3-2. Jamie Garcia and Jorge De La Rosa preserved the lead after, as the Cubs held on for a 3-2 win.
