Week 2 Preview: Purdue vs. Eastern Michigan

It’s already week 2 of the College Football season! Purdue Football seeks for their 1st win this Saturday at home against Eastern Michigan. It’s a clearly inferior opponent for the Boilers, unlike last Thursday.

Last Week (Purdue)

Purdue comes into Saturday’s matchup off a 31-27 opening night loss to Northwestern. Late penalties cost the Boilermakers, spoiling the home opener. Purdue’s defense excelled in the second half, holding the Wildcats scoreless. However, 31 first-half points gave Northwestern a big edge.

David Blough was the quarterback for the entire second half. Through Blough’s hands, the offense ran much smoother. Purdue only had 10 second-half points, but the tempo Blough set was pitch perfect. The Boilers utilized a ground game that worked to their advantage.

The big story of the game was freshman WR Rondale Moore. Moore set a school record with 313 all-purpose yards. He tore up Northwestern in every fashion. Moore was named B1G Freshman of the Week and the Rose Bowl Player of the Week. He also made Twitter’s trending list for a while.

Last Week (Eastern Michigan)

Eastern Michigan enters Saturday off a 51-17 Week 1 win over Monmouth. The Eagles offense was high flying, tallying 473 yards and 7 touchdowns. It’s hard to get excited about two lower level D1 schools, but Eastern Michigan looked pretty good. Having to face Purdue this weekend, that story will change pretty quickly.
