David Bote came through again. Bote delivered against the Nationals with an eventual game-winning RBI. The Cubs held on for a 6-4 win in the 10th inning.
Ben Zobrist: 2 for 4, 2 RBI
Anthony Rizzo: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
David Bote: 1 for 1, 1 R, 1 RBI

How it Happened
The Cubs and Nationals went back and forth. Washington scored 4 runs off Kyle Hendricks, however, only 1 was earned. Still, the Cubs tailed multiple times. Anthony Rizzo knocked in the first run of the game in the 3rd. Ben Zobrist followed Rizzo with an RBI double, putting the Cubs up 2-0.
Washington took a 3-2 lead in the 4th, only to have it tied. Zobrist knocked in his 2nd run on a sac fly, tying it 3-3. The Nationals score 1 run in the fifth, with a 4-3 lead. That was all until the 8th where the Cubs tied it again. Willson Contreras grounded into a fielder’s choice, scoring a run.
The game would head extra innings. The Cubs were in business after Albert Almora’s double. David Bote came through big with an eventual game-winning RBI, putting the Cubs up 5-4. Recently called-up Taylor Davis came through with an insurance run, making it 6-4.
Jesse Chavez worked out of a walk and single in the bottom half of the 10th. The Cubs held on, winning 6-4.
One Great Moment
When doesn’t David Bote come through in the clutch? Bote in his last at-bat against Washington became nationally famous with a walk-off grand slam. This time was a mini-version of that, with the game-winning RBI. Check this out from Bote:
