The Cubs finally snapped their losing skid with a huge offensive breakout. They beat the Tigers 8-2 on Wednesday, splitting the series.

How it Happened
The Cubs offense wasn’t taking any chances of just scoring one run. In the fifth inning, David Bote and Daniel Murphy ended the offensive dry spell. Bote blasted a two-run homer, giving the Cubs a 2-1 lead. Newest Cub Daniel Murphy broke the HR streak with an RBI single, making it 3-1. The Cubs offense finally scored more than one run.
Willson Contreras added to the lead in the sixth with an RBI single. The Cubs offense really came through in the ninth, scoring four runs. Javy Baez and Anthony Rizzo went back-to-back, turning a 4-2 lead into a sizeable 8-2 advantage. Brandon Kintzler looked solid in the ninth with a strikeout, as the Cubs won 8-2.

David Bote hit his first home run since the Grand Slam and this one was pretty good. Particularly when Bote broke the one-run games streak with a TWO run homer. Check it out:

The Cubs improve to 72-53 this season, 2.5 games ahead of 2nd place St. Louis.
