The Cubs beat Milwaukee on Wednesday 8-4 to split the series.
Anthony Rizzo: 2 for 4, HR, 1 R, 3 RBI
Jason Heyward: 3 for 5, 1 R, 2 RBI
David Bote: 2 for 5, 2 R
How it Happened
After a terrific start by Kyle Hendricks in the 1st, the Cubs offense rewarded. David Bote singled and shortly after, Anthony Rizzo blasted a two-run homer. The Cubs usually don’t score until the end but took an early 2-0 lead. They led 4-0 after a two-run third inning. The last run was all thanks to Bote, scoring from third on a wild pitch not too far away from the plate.
Milwaukee put two runs on the board in the fourth. However, the Cubs got both right back in the bottom half. Addison Russell, Jason Heyward, and Anthony Rizzo each ripped RBI singles giving the Cubs a 7-2 lead.
The Brewers put up two more runs in the seventh with the Cubs still leading 7-4. Albert Almora made it 8-4 with his first home run since June. Pedro Strop recorded all three outs in the ninth, as the Cubs beat Milwaukee 8-4.
One Great Moment
David Bote keeps on making swift plays offensively and defensively. He does a lot more than hit grand slams. Bote made a spectacular defensive play here:
