Early into the season, the Cubs bullpen was producing incredible numbers in a small sample size. Over halfway into the season, the relievers look just as good. Brandon Morrow has been especially good with 22 saves while posting a 1.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.
For the Cubs starting pitching, it’s been a rocky road, but the Cubs staff is starting to look much better.
Jon Lester has been the “Ace” all season, earning the All-Star nod. Lester’s 12-2 with a 2.58 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 19 starts. Kyle Hendricks has been the second best, checking in a 6-8 with a modest 3.92 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. Jose Quintana is 8-6 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, while Mike Montgomery’s 3-3 with a 3.91 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. These four have been the superb portion of the staff.
