How it Happened
The Cubs were down in a hole 4-0 early in the first. Jason Heyward got the Cubs on the board in the third with a solo homer to right. Heyward started a comeback, now trailing 4-1. Kris Bryant made it a one-run game with his two-run homer in the fifth. Bryant went 409 feet to dead center, getting the Giants lead down to 4-3. The home run party continued in the seventh with Javy Baez up to bat. Baez blasted a shot to center, tying the game 4-4. After a scoreless ninth from both sides, the Cubs and Giants headed to extras. From there, the Cubs could not score. San Francisco would walk it off in the 13th inning, winning 5-4.
The Cubs fall to 52-38 this year, still 1.5 games behind Milwaukee.
