Get ready Cubs fans, this is going to be lots of fun. Not only are Javy Baez, Willson Contreras, and Jon Lester in the All-Star game, the home run derby participants have been announced. Per multiple reports, Javy Baez and Kyle Schwarber will BOTH participate in the derby!
It’s not official yet, but NBC Sports Chicago and the Chicago Sun-Times are reporting.
Baez and Schwarber will both be first-time participants in the derby. They are both having monster home run seasons. Baez and Schwarber each have 17 home runs this year, leading the Cubs. That’s a tie for the 8th most in the National League.
Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant were the last Cubs duo to participate in the home run derby. That was in 2015 at Great American Ballpark.
Schwavy, Scharez, Schwarbaez, or whatever you want to call it, is heading to the home run derby!
