Kris Bryant rehabbed in Tennessee and South Bend won the series over Lansing to highlight the Cubs Minor League.

Low-A: Eugene Emeralds

Eugene 2, Hillsboro 4 (9-16, 4th Place)

  • LF Nelson Velazquez went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
  • SS Nico Hoerner went 0-for-3 with a run scored and walk.
  • RHP Ryan Williams tossed 5.0 solid innings, despite the loss. Williams gave up five hits and two earned runs. He walked one and struck out three for Eugene.

Single-A: South Bend Cubs

South Bend 5, Lansing 3 (11-8, T-2nd Place)

  • 3B Austin Filiere went 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.
  • C Miguel Amaya went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.
  • SS Rafael Narea went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
  • LHP Tyler Thomas tossed his fifth quality start this season. Thomas went 6.0 innings, allowing six hits and three runs with no walks and five strikeouts. He continues to pitch at a phenomenal rate, not allowing more than three earned runs in his last 9 starts.

High-A: Myrtle Beach Pelicans

Myrtle Beach 1, Carolina 3 (6-13, 5th Place)

  • RF Roberto Caro went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored.
  • CF D.J. Wilson went 2-for-4.
  • 2B Yeiler Peguero went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Double-A: Tennessee Smokies

Tennessee 6, Montgomery 2 (12-6, 1st Place)

  • 3B Kris Bryant went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, two runs scored, and three RBI.
  • LF Charcer Burks went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and a walk.
  • 2B Trent Giambrone went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.
  • RHP Matt Swarmer threw his second straight shutout with the quality start and win. Swarmer went 6.0 innings, allowing just two hits with no walks and five strikeouts. He shined with star third baseman Kris Bryant behind him, in his 6th win this year. Swarmer has been very solid recently.
