It was almost like a time warp for Kris Bryant in his return to Tennessee. Trying to work out a left shoulder injury, Bryant looked very sharp in his first game of the Smokies rehab assignment.
Kris Bryant finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBIs, and a home run. Remember, he has not played in a documented game since June 22nd.
Bryant settled in very quickly, reaching base in the first on a fielding error. He would come around to score on an RBI single from Yasiel Balaguert. That was part of a 2-run first inning for the Smokies. Consequently, Bryant’s spot came up again in the second, delivering with an RBI single into left.
Bryant stuck out swinging in the fourth.
Up to bat in the 7th, Bryant had his big play of the game. Bryant homered to left-center field scoring two runs, putting the Smokies on top 6-0. Bryant safely reached base for the third time of the night. Check out his homer:

Bryant is expected to play in Tuesday night’s game for the Smokies as well. He will then be reevaluated by Cubs manager Joe Maddon in hopes of a big league return on Wednesday.
