Jon Lester Named National League Pitcher of the Month

As many expected after taking over the National League lead in wins, Jon Lester has been named the NL Pitcher of the Month from June.

Lester went a perfect 5-0 with a 1.13 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. Additionally, Lester gave up just four earned runs in the entire month while holding batters to a .155 batting average. He’s having one of the best seasons of his career, reaching 10 wins faster than any other Cubs pitcher in years. Lester has also had the hot bat, going 1-for-3 with a homer on Sunday, just outside of June. Still, Lester has been having a career year.

His teammate Javy Baez was also honored on Tuesday afternoon, winning NL Player of the Week.
