RECAP — Cubs 4, Phillies 3

After a 7-5 thrilling grand slam walk-off win on Wednesday, the Cubs took the series from Philadelphia with a 4-3 win on Thursday for their fourth straight series win.

Standout Performers

Anthony Rizzo: 1 for 3, HR, 1 R, 2 RBI
Albert Almora: 2 for 4, 1 R
Tommy La Stella: 1 for 2, 1 RBI

How it Happened

After just one hit through the first three innings, Anthony Rizzo delivered the second of the game with a one-run blast into right-field that gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Later in the fifth, the Phillies tied the game 1-1 right before the Cubs responded. Tommy La Stella and Kris Bryant hit back-to-back RBI singles then followed by Rizzo’s sacrifice fly that put the Cubs back up 4-1. Philly added two more runs in the sixth making it just a 4-3 Cubs lead but the relief pitching from there held the score as the Cubs went on to win 4-3.

One Great Moment

Anthony Rizzo’s fourth-inning home run was number 175 of his Cubs career, as he takes sole possession of the 13th most dingers in franchise history. Check out his “One Great Moment” from the win.

Standings Check

The Cubs improve to 35-24 this season, now just 0.5 games back of the first place Brewers.
