No-hitter alert! The South Bend Cubs no-hit the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Wednesday night, thanks to seven hitless innings from Cubs Pitching Prospect Rollie Lacy and then two no-hit frames from Ben Hecht for South Bend’s first no-hitter since 2014.
Lacy was dominant on the mound with six strikeouts picking up the win, but most impressively no-hitting the TinCaps. This is a rare and incredible feat that very rarely happens, but Rollie Lacy did it in style. Right from the first pitch thrown in his bullpen session, Lacy was locked in before this one even started. He worked through every inning pitched with confidence retiring the side five times. Lacy got into a two-walk jam in the seventh but came out with a strikeout. He really did it, seven no-hit innings.
Rollie Lacy got the win after Ben Hecht retired all 6 batters faced in the eighth and ninth, beating Fort Wayne 7-0.
