The Cubs fell once again to the Rockies at home on Wednesday, losing 11-2 in the series finale. Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant homered but it was not enough as the pitching imploded in the loss.
Anthony Rizzo: 2 for 4, HR, 1 R, 1 RBI
Kris Bryant: 1 for 4, HR, 1 R, 1 RBI
How it Happened
Colorado put up runs in each of the first three innings off Yu Darvish that he could have gotten away with but imploded in the fifth inning once again with two home runs allowed, giving the Rockies a 6-1 lead. Anthony Rizzo had homered in the fourth inning when it was just a 4-1 deficit. Kris Bryant homered in the sixth inning after the Rockies put up the 6 runs, as the Cubs trailed 6-2. Then in the eighth inning, the game was put away for good with three runs off Luke Farrell as the Cubs went on to lose 11-2.
One Great Moment
Anthony Rizzo a.k.a. “The Greatest Leadoff Hitter of All-Time” struck again on the second consecutive day with a one-run blast into the right field below the Budweiser Scoreboard. Rizzo unfortunately at the time was not in the leadoff spot, batting fourth, but still hit his second home run of May. He had just one before this month.

The Cubs fall to 16-12 this season and back into third place in the NL Central. With wins from St. Louis and Milwaukee on Wednesday, that pushed the Cubs down two spots because of the loss.
The Cubs are off Thursday for a travel day when they head to St. Louis for the start of a three-game set on Friday. Jose Quintana seeks to get the Cubs back on track on Friday at 7:15 PM CT on NBC Sports Chicago and 670 The Score.
