The Cubs fell in the second game of a three-game set against Colorado at Coors Field on Saturday night, 5-2 snapping a 2-game win streak.
Albert Almora: 2 for 3, 1 R, 1 BB
Willson Contreras: 1 for 4, 2 RBI
Javy Baez: 1 for 4, 1 R
David Bote: 1 for 3
How it Happened
The Cubs offense looked like they had another big night in them, with a two-run first inning backed by Willson Contreras’ two-out, 2 RBI-double into deep center that put the Cubs out on top 2-0. The score remained that way to the fifth inning when Yu Darvish gave up four hits, three walks, and five runs that unfortunately gave the Rockies a 5-2 lead. After that fifth inning, the Cubs offense was held hitless with zero baserunners as former-Cub Wade Davis picked up the save and the Cubs lost 5-2.
One Great Moment
With two outs and a runner on second in the 3rd inning, Yu Darvish was in the same type of situation he was in the fifth inning. This time, Albert Almora stole the show and backed him up with what could have been a double into deep right center but ended up being an amazing catch while running into the wall.
