Cubs Minor League Recap 4/15/18: A Win for Everyone! (That Played)

For the first time since the Minor League Baseball season has started, all the Cubs affiliates won in the same day. Well, only two of them played and at least they both won. The other two were both rained out with makeup dates scheduled in the near future.

Low A: South Bend Cubs

Postponed, rain. To make up for both games missed this weekend, South Bend and Lake County will play a doubleheader on May 14th and May 16th, dates they were already scheduled to play in the same stadium. That will be 6 games in 4 days which is a lot against the same opponent, but you’ve got to love April Showers!

  • Iowa’s offense dominated and a large part due to David Bote. Bote had already homered the day before for the Cubs only run and homered yet again as part of his big day. He finished 3 for 5 on the day with 3 runs and 2 RBI in addition to his third-inning blast.
  • Myrtle Beach’s offense also stole the show on Sunday, as they are starting to heat up. They’ve scored 41 runs in the past 4 days, as that paints a pretty big picture for scoring. It’s come from all different Cubs prospect in every game, but the Pelicans clearly want to win, and they are certainly showing.
  • Sunday’s two rainouts pushed the 2018 total to already 9 games either postponed or rescheduled to later dates. Surprisingly MILB didn’t go to an earlier season start date but still have a tremendous amount of games not being played. It should not be a big concern, but it should definitely be monitored for the rest of this month.
