Notes:

  • Tyler Thomas had a phenomenal start for South Bend following his previous solid start. Thomas pitched five innings of no-hit baseball with no walks, one baserunner on an error while striking out seven and picking up the win. It was by far the best pitching performance from a Cubs Minor League pitcher to this point in 28 combined games. Thomas was lights out with 65 pitches and 45 strikeouts.
  • Duncan Robinson also produced a great start with Tennessee despite the Smokies falling late. Robinson ended up with a quality start going for 6.0 innings allowing just five hits and one earned run, striking out 4. It was Robinson’s first full start of the season after his start was cut short due to rain back on April 6th.
  • Iowa Cubs Manager Marty Pevey hit a managerial milestone, with win number 1000 also becoming Iowa’s winningest manager in franchise history with 356 wins. Pevey is in his 6th season managing the Iowa Cubs and has coached some good clubs along the way.
