The Cubs got back in the win column due to heroics in the ninth inning, and Yu Darvish dominating on the mound as they beat the Brewers 5-2 on Saturday night.
Yu Darvish: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 9 K
Kris Bryant: 3 AB, 3 H (HR), 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Ian Happ: 5 AB, 1 H, 2 RBI
Jon Lester: 1 AB, 1 RBI
How it Happened
The Cubs for once didn’t strike first in the first two innings and actually did not score until the sixth inning off the Brewers starter Zach Davies. It was the Brewers scoring first in the fourth inning when Eric Thames homered to right which would be the only mistake for Yu Darvish on a slider right down the middle and other than that was light’s out. Kris Bryant had a home run of his own in the sixth inning good for one run to tie it up 1-1. Then the Brewers in the eighth inning hit a sac-fly to take the 2-1 lead going into the final inning. The Cubs would, of course, have a big ninth inning, scoring 4 runs including a sacrifice bunt RBI from the pinch hitter JON LESTER! This is not the first time Lester has pinch hit in a game he hasn’t started in. That was the icing on the cake that made it a 5-2 Cubs lead which would end up being the final score after a clean three outs from the closer Brandon Morrow.
One Great Moment
There can be only one great moment for this game. The Cubs scoring 4 runs in the ninth inning to rally and beat the Brewers. There is one play, in general, that was pretty good. JON LESTER’S SQUEEZE BUNT FOR AN RBI! If you are anxious, fast forward to the 57-second mark to watch every second of Lester’s walk up to the plate and perfect squeeze bunt. You can also go ahead and watch the whole video from the Cubs Twitter to relive the moment from the ninth inning.

The Cubs improve to 4-4 this season and are still in fourth place in the NL Central. They are two games out from the division leader Pittsburgh, who they just happen to play at Wrigley Field this week for the Home Opener and two other games.
Jose Quintana looks to follow the trend Jon Lester and Yu Darvish set with a rebound performance against the Brewers on Sunday. The game will start at 1:10 PM Central on WGN and 670 The Score.
