“Attorneys At Ball” Come Through Big, as Purdue Rolls to 82-75 Win over Rutgers

52 points. That’s how many points Purdue received from the “Edwards Brothers” Carsen and Vince Edwards in their 82-75 Big Ten Tourney win over Rutgers on Friday night. Some teams cannot even accomplish the 50-point feat, but two Boilermakers did so. That’s how explosive they were.

Vince would be the ringleader playing at about a 70% health, going 10-14 from the field and 4-7 from deep. Carsen was also very good, shooting 6-14 from the field, but 10-11 from the free throw line. This game was all about the “Attorneys at Ball” or whatever you would like to call them. Carsen and Vince Edwards dominated Rutgers defense all night, and especially in the second half.

Isaac Haas added a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while Dakota Mathias chipped in 9 points and 7 assists.

Purdue never even led in the first half, but it didn’t matter. They were down 38-35 at the break, which was a pretty good half of basketball offensively near the end. The Boilers ultimately won this game in the second half with large offensive production, outscoring the Scarlet Knights 47-37 and won by 7 points. A point in the second half, where Purdue was 15-for-18 on their last field goal attempts sums up all you need to know. This half was Purdue’s.

With an offensive outburst in the second half, comes great shooting numbers. Purdue had those, shooting 27-50 (54%) from the field, 13-30 (43%) from distance, and 15-21 (71%) from the free throw line. That made up for the rebounding, as Purdue was outrebounded by the statistically better Rutgers 36-28. The Boilermakers would dish out 19 assists on 27 makes and led for 17:22.
