The Indiana Pacers debuted their brand new “City Edition” Uniforms on Saturday night and did not let down their home fans, beating the Philadelphia 76ers 100-92.
These new threads originally leaked in the NBA 2K video game looked much cooler out on the court with all the players repping the “City Edition” Uniforms. They are flooded with color, with a racing stripe running down the jersey, along with the Pacers logo in letters running downwards on top of the checkers.
For the game, Victor Oladipo and Bojan Bogdanovic contributed greatly to the Pacers success. Victor Oladipo had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block for a tremendous effort. Bojan Bogdanovic had 19 points as well, to go along with 4 boards and 2 steals. Lance Stephenson added 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Domantas Sabonis chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Indiana would find themselves with a great start to the game which has not been the case too much recently. They outscored Philadelphia 33-27 over the course of the first quarter and settled with a 62-57 halftime lead after being slightly outscored in the second 30-29. They would be faced with their first real challenge of the game after being shut down offensively in the third quarter, outscored by the 76ers 18-14. That would give Philadelphia a slight 76-75 edge going into the final quarter. From there, the Pacers would surge to a large enough lead to beat the 76ers and outscore the foes 24-17 in the fourth quarter.
The Pacers shooting numbers were not mind blowing but were above average. They would go 35-79 (44.3%) from the field, 9-27 (33.3%) from three, and 21-25 (84.0%) from the free throw line. In addition, they would be outrebounded in a crazy “Battle for Boards” 58-52. Philadelphia is the number one rebounding team in the league, but 58 rebounds are absurd. So are the Pacers 52, which is nearly ten more than they averaged coming into the game. Everywhere else, Indiana would dish out 25 assists, steal the ball 15 times, and reject 8 shots while committing 14 total turnovers.
Following the win, the Pacers improve to 30-24 this season and 19-10 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. They have won six of their last ten games and seem to be gaining momentum as the playoffs roll around. They currently sit at fifth place in the Eastern Conference ahead of the Bucks, Heat, 76ers, Pistons, Knicks, and Hornets. They also hold a strong 8-6 record against teams in the Central Division, which is no doubt one of the toughest to play in right now.
Indiana will host Washington this Monday at 7:00 PM Eastern.
