Purdue jumps back into the AP Top-25 ranking

Well just like the Purdue Twitter said, the Boilermakers have been ranked in the Associated Press poll for 42 of the last 43 weeks. This past week was the first time Purdue dropped from the rankings, but then after three strong wins, the Boilermakers jumped right back into the poll at #21.

The #21 ranked Boilermakers defeated Louisville (66-57) at Mackey, Maryland (80-75) on the road, and Northwestern (74-69). Purdue owns a nation’s-best five wins over teams ranked in the top 70.

The Boilermakers had fallen out of the poll after losing two games in the Bahamas, before winning four straight which rightfully earned them their spot back. It’s incredible that a team could be included in 41 straight Top-25 polls, but streaks are meant to end and that was the case.

Purdue was ranked 20th in the Preseason Poll, 19th in the Week 2 Poll, 18th in the Week 3 Poll, unranked in the Week 4 Poll, and finally find themselves back in the poll at 21st.

Purdue cracked the Top-25 largely because of the play from center Isaac Haas who just won Big Ten Player of the Week earlier in the day. Just because of his performance in the Boilermakers win over Louisville, the Cardinals were dropped out of the ranking.

In addition to the Associated Press Poll, Purdue was in the same spot for the USA Today coaches poll at 21.
