Isaac Haas named Big Ten Player of the Week

After strong performances in all three of Purdue’s wins last week, center Isaac Haas has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Averaging 23.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two Big Ten wins last week, Haas has really had a great start to the 2017-18 season.

The #21 ranked Boilermakers defeated Louisville (66-57) at Mackey, Maryland (80-75) on the road, and Northwestern (74-69). Purdue owns a nation’s-best five wins over teams ranked in the top 70.

Haas led the pack, averaging 18.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 20-of-33 (.606) from the field and 16-of-22 (.727) from the free throw line. Most notably, Haas tallied up 21 points against Maryland, then a career-high 26 and nine rebounds in the win over Northwestern.

Not only was Haas excellent on offense last week, his overall defense saw some noticeable improvements worth noting. Hass owns a 93.6 defensive rating on the year, which ranks 16th out of the conference just behind fellow teammate Vincent Edwards for the Top-15. To cap off his great defense, Haas now has a block percentage of 5.7% that ranks 8th out of the conference among starters after last week.

Congratulations Isaac Haas on winning the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor!
