Several Indiana Football seniors including LB Tegray Scales, K Griffin Oakes, and CB Rashard Fant were named on Tuesday to the respectable All-Big Ten teams. Scales and Oakes notably were named to the first team, while Fant was right up there notching the second team.
Scales is the first Hoosiers linebacker to be honored as a first-teamer since Willie Bates and Joe Huff in 1988. Oakes, who was a first-team selection in 2015, is just the second IU kicker (Scott Bonnell, 1991-92) to be named first team All-B1G twice. Scales had an incredible season, racking up a team-high 12.5 tackles for loss, as well as 89 tackles, 6.0 sacks, and 2 interceptions in a great senior season. For Oakes, he was 16-of-17 on the year, including a perfect 15-for-15 from inside the 50-yard line.
Rashard Fant who made the second team led the team with nine pass breakups, (T-9th in the Big Ten) to go along with 24 tackles, 2.5 for loss, one interception and one fumble recovery.
Congratulations to Tegray Scales, Griffin Oakes, and Rashard Fant for well representing the Hoosiers in the Big Ten for the 2017 season.
