We are now four games into the new basketball season for Notre Dame, and if one thing is for certain, the Irish are playing efficient. Over 4,000 miles across the North Pacific Ocean, according to Google Maps, the Irish played the Chaminade Silverswords and crushed them with ease 83-56.
First Half Summary
The opening half went great for Notre Dame with great play on both sides of the ball. They led 39-29 at the break, sparked by a great offense and lockdown defense that ended up holding the Silverswords to a minimum amount of scoring. The game started out well in the within the first 20 seconds after tip-off, when Notre Dame won the tip and Matt Farrell knocked down a three-point jumper on their first shot attempt. After that basket and for the next five minutes, things remained tight between the Irish and Silverswords. After those minutes passed, Notre Dame really broke out on offense finishing out the half on a 21-14 run to lead by 9 at the break.
Second Half Summary
The final half of action went tremendously in favor of the Irish who shut down Chaminade for good. The Silverswords this time were the ones to win the tip and drain a three-pointer which replicated Notre Dame and what they did in the first half. Beyond that point, the Irish took charge and took control with a 13-4 run that extended their lead to 51-36. Notre Dame would finish out the second half on a 32-20 scoring run to put the game very far out of reach for Chaminade.
