SOUTH BEND, IN.– After an excellent 7-1 start to the 2017 college football season, Notre Dame is getting all the accolades they deserve after beating ranked teams in back-to-back weeks.
It’s been an impressive turnaround for the Irish, after compiling a 4-8 record last season. They’ve won 6 games in a row with 4 games left, including 2 against Top-25 teams.
On Sunday, the Associated Press Top-25 Poll came out, and Notre Dame moved up 4 spots to fifth on the list. Now on Tuesday, they received even more national attention. The Irish were ranked third in the initial College Football Playoff Ranking, only trailing Georgia and Alabama. Their ranking is very high but well deserved for this tough battle-tested team. The crazy thing is, their lone loss came in a close 1-point game at home against then #15 ranked Georgia. Imagine where they could be ranked if that would have gone their way.
The schedule ahead remains extremely tough for Notre Dame. They only have a 35% chance of winning out with two very talented football teams in Miami and Stanford ahead. Both those games will be played on the road, making a very tough challenge. For now, they will face off with Wake Forest in a soft home game that should go Notre Dame’s way.
