PISCATAWAY, N.J. — We are now officially over halfway into the season and things were looking good for the Boilermakers going into Saturday’s matchup with Rutgers on the road. The Jeff Brohm coached team is playing at their best but they fell short to Rutgers 14-12 on Saturday.

The Boilermakers had a chance late to tie the game, only needing a two-point conversion down by two. They had just scored a touchdown, but the two-point pass conversion failed.

Purdue did everything they could to win but narrowly lost. They outgained Rutgers 474-217 and had the ball for 85 plays, 30 more than Rutgers.

“We going to have to figure it out and improve,” said Purdue coach Jeff Brohm, who took over the team this season. “We have a long ways to go. While it is, in my opinion, two steps backward, those things happen. As upset as I am and our team is, you have to use it as fuel to drive.”
